What is serious role play?
Serious role play is not like DarkRP, in SRP you are subject to strict rules and must obey them at all times. This allows for a more realistic experience than that offered by any other gamemode. Unlike DarkRP, SRP requires you to s2m, or shoot-to-miss most of the time. Powergaming is usually not allowed, as it creates an unfair situations. If you are attacking someone, you two CAN roll if agreed upon(done by typing /roll and entering it). If you roll a higher number, your attack succeeds, if your number is lower then you fail the attack. Items are usually not present as your objective is not to shoot others or gain items, but to build your character and develop stories that may be very interesting. Another important part of SRP is grammar, proper grammar is the first step to serious role play as improper punctuation may change the meanings of sentences. This is to add to the immersive environment and make it a lot more professional, because you are speaking as if you would in real life.
To type in Global out of character (OOC), type // infront of your message. Ex: "// Hello." (No quotes) To type in Local out of character (LOOC), type [[ OR .// infront of your message. Ex: ".// Hello." OR "[[ Hello." (No quotes) To Private message someone type /pm infront of your message. Ex: "/pm (Name) (String Message)" (No quotes or parentheses).
What is metagaming?
Metagaming is taking out-of-character (OOC) information and using it in-character (IC). For example, if you know that someone is a bandit in real life, but your character has no way of knowing that, you do not use that information in character, because they do not know about it. Metagaming is against the rules.
What is powergaming?
Powergaming is when you have some sort of superiority in combat over someone for an unjustly reason. Example: /me tackles the man, pinning him to the floor.
The fault in that is that you must attempt to do that, so the other person can react.

What do I do when there is nothing to do?
Find a job, or Passive role play. Passive role play is meant to fill the time when there is no action or anything going on, so that you have something to do while waiting.

Passive role play is when you do things that don't involve a conflict or any action, normally. Example: /me opens the bathroom door, walking into it. He steps infront of the sink, reaching for the toothbrush. He squirts some toothpaste onto the brush. then begins to brush his teeth.
Things like that are passive role play.
